The Secret Life of Paper runs until March 20th. There will be a reception with the artist on March 3rd from 5-8 PM, First Friday in March at Liberty Station.
“The Martha Pace Swift Gallery is proud to present: The Secret Life of Paper, Works on Canvas by Kathleen Kane-Murrell. The high-touch sculptural surfaces prominent in many of Kane-Murrell’s canvases imbue the work with a uniquely rhythmic quality, and make it engaging, vital and visceral. Surfaces vibrate with an energy that slips nimbly between chaos, and the constant self-organizing moment. Using oils, recycled papers and a deft handling of color, she manages to create works that reference nature without imitation. Her best work, even in unsculpted pieces, possesses a depth sometimes lacking in non-representational images. These are canvases the viewer can get inside.” – Expressive Arts institute
